Introduction
I believe that the majority of us as young adults have the genuine desire to inspire people, to bring positivity to our environment and ultimately make a difference in the world. Elaine S. Dalton once said that “if you desire to make a difference in the world, you must be different from the world.” When it comes down to it, there are only two types of differences that can be made on earth. One being a TEMPORARY DIFFERENCE and the other being an ETERNAL DIFFERENCE. We all have a choice to choose the type of difference we make.
What type of difference are you living to make?
Let it shine:
We were all created with a GREAT CALLING and PURPOSE by God. It’s our duty to reflect His glory but we can only do this once we repent from our own personal desires and focus on allowing his light shine through us for the world to see.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” – Romans 3:23
Before God can shine through us, we have to be changed by Him. The light that he shines not only reflects who he is to others, but it also reflects our purposes and what we were each put on this earth to do.
Making a temporary difference vs making an everlasting difference:
The evil and negativity that dwells in this world is a result of SIN inherited from Adam. Christ has given mankind the chance to turn our evil hearts towards God so His initial amazing plan for our lives may come to completion.
By becoming the children of God and acquiring a changed heart through the power of His light (Christ), we automatically become different from the world. Only then can we live to make an EVERLASTING DIFFERENCE in the souls consumed by this fallen world. The LIGHT in us will be able to drive out the DARKNESS that surrounds us. Until we choose to walk on the narrow road that leads to life, we can only make a temporary difference in the lives of others.
“But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.” – Matthew 7:14
God is the only one who can change the heart of man but He uses the saved & surrendered souls as vessels to influence that change in people. Without God we can do NOTHING, with God we can do all things. Without Jesus, we may inspire people to work harder, be motivated & grow and so on but the difference we make will be temporary.
Self-check:
God is not glorified in lives He doesn’t own. Children of God are different for they are IN the world but not OF the world. (John 17:16) Being different is not a matter of perfection rather choosing to build our lives on the perfect foundation, CHRIST. If you believe you are His child ask yourself these questions:
. Who are your role models?
. Do you follow THE WORD or THE WORLD for life guidance?
. Do you get up every morning and stalk your earthly role models or you sit at the feet of Jesus seeking His wisdom & guidance concerning your ways?
. Are you making a difference beyond temporary in this world by sharing and showing the love of God to others?
We can never lead others on the path we are not walking ourselves. Christ did not die to merely save us from eternal damnation but to also be our greatest role model & inspiration on how to walk from day to day. We ought to stalk the footprints of Christ DAILY to live out our purposes in reflecting His image and showing the world what He really cares for – SOULS.
Your fame or HIS:
God has fully equipped us to live out our calling with absolute excellence through His power & strength. The precious gifts & talents hidden within us are parts of the tools to be used to accomplish His plan for our lives. However, as God doesn’t take back what He has given us (Romans 11:29), it’s possible for us to cultivate those gifts out of us to use it for our own glory living outside the will of God.

There is no profit to be made in using our talents, opportunities, and gifts that are given to us to display His glory, for our own glory. Tagging the name of God on the things we do doesn’t necessarily mean He is receiving the glory for it. We have to acknowledge the sole source of our gifts & talents – which is God and utilise them to spread HIS fame throughout the world.
When Christ returns or we go to Him, He will judge us on where, why & how we’ve INVESTED our gifts & talents here on earth. (Matthew 25:23)
TIME IS TICKING, MAKE SURE YOU ARE NOT STALLING! Those of us who claim to believe in God and follow Him must be BOLD Disciples of Christ who unapologetically stand for their faith without compromising. Put a stamp on who you proclaim to live for.
To make the valuable eternal difference & inspiration in the world, we must maintain our position as the lights of the world. Never blend in with the darkness. Surrender & give JESUS the throne to your hearts so He may rule over every area of your lives on a daily basis, and cultivate the precious gifts He has placed within in you for His glory.
REMEMBER: ETERNITY is far more important than this fleeting life that Jesus died to make a way for us. Therefore, strive to live a life that inspires multitudes back to the kingdom of God.
