CULINARY ARTIST CHEF SHELLY HARRIS TALKS BALANCING RUNNING A BUSINESS WITH MOTHERHOOD, HER FAVOURITE RECIPE AND MORE.

 

Shelly Harris – also known as Chef Shelly is 25-year-old Culinary Artist from New Orleans, Louisiana. Her passion for cooking was birthed at a tender age when she would watch her mother and grandmother cook together – alongside the rest of the family during holidays. However, it was her aunt Alisa Randolph who helped mould the artistic side to her passion, particularly when she was left having to care and cook for her aunt while she was undergoing chemotherapy. It was then she knew Culinary Art was something she wanted to pursue. Her drive continued to excel ever since, setting herself challenges and catering for her community with the aim of building her own empire.

We caught up with Shelly to discuss the future of her business, her favourite dishes to make and much more:

Danny Sylvain Tshibambe is 23-year-old self-taught graphic designer/illustrator from Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. A self-motivated, selfless and super optimistic person who is often described as nice. Danny sees himself as a happy guy often smiling or doing something silly – a big kid at heart and peacemaker. The one who always tries to avoid conflict but when conflict arises tries to resolve it in a calm way. Born and raised in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Danny moved to America when he was just 10-years-old but remembers his passion for the arts to have started way before.

We caught with Danny to find out challenges behind the art and the lessons he’s learnt along the way.

CAITLIN NUNEZ – ‘KINGDOM AMBASSADORS’

FOUNDER OF KINGDOM AMBASSADORS CAITLIN NUNEZ OPENS UP ABOUT LEARNING TO FORGIVE, AND DEVELOPING AN AUTHENTIC RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD.

 

Caitlin Nunez is a 16-year-old full-time sixth form student currently doing her a-levels with the aspiration of becoming Criminal Barrister, but currently, works in retail at a suit shop. Her parents are originally from The Philippines but she was born and raised in East London. Caitlin – a Christian and a follower of Jesus Christ has a strong passion for young people and the expansion of their knowledge of God’s love for them. Because of this – she evangelises through social media and runs an online Christian ministry called Kingdom Ambassadors through a blog where she invites all types of young people to start a relationship with God. She is also a dancer trained in classical ballet and a free-lance makeup artist.

ANDY COOKE – ‘ENTREPRENEURS’

Andy Cooke is a 28-year-old independent graphic designer from Staffordshire with a BA in graphic design. He is also an associate lecturer at Staffordshire University for the Advertising & Brand Management award, an artist agent for the RareKind Illustration Agency and one of three directors running the Entrepreneurs Store in Stoke–on–Trent, Staffs.

Entrepreneurs is the catalyst for urban culture within Stoke–on–Trent. It exists as a platform to celebrate urban culture on as many levels as possible — from music to art, fashion and more. It sells premium, branded streetwear that’s grounded in skate, graffiti and urban pastures, as well as graffiti paint and other artist supplies. On the first floor of their building they hold exhibitions from artists of all kinds that hail from around the world, and host workshops from screen printing, sign painting, letterpress printing and more.

AFRICAN-COUTURE DESIGNER MICHELLE WATIKI DISCUSSES PROVIDING UNDERPRIVILEGED GIRLS WITH OPPORTUNITIES INTO FASHION.

Julani Mwafrika – formally known as Jelani is a contemporary online African clothing line by Michelle Watiki – a young, driven and sophisticated designer from Kenya. Fueled by her roots, she branded her clothing line with the Swahilian words ‘Julani Mwafrika’ that translate as ‘The Mighty African‘ – adding a real meaning to the brand.

As a current a full time student studying Maths, physics, chemistry and further maths, Michelle’s ultimate dream is to become an Engineer with Jelani as her side hustle.  Although Michelle herself lives in England, she runs her clothing line by working with tailors abroad who manufacture her designs. We sat down with Michelle to find out the ins and outs of creating her own online store, and to hear about the lesson she’s learnt along the way:
